Energy Minister, Woodside talk future collaboration on LNG

Possible future collaboration on LNG opportunities was among several issues discussed at a recent meeting between Energy Minister Stuart Young and Woodside Energy’s Country Manager (Trinidad and Tobago), Mrs Kellyanne Lochan.

The meeting took place at the Ministry of Energy and Energy Industries’ offices at the International Waterfront Complex, Port-of-Spain.

A release from the Ministry reports that during the meeting, Minister Young noted the company’s Pacific Basin position and its recent agreement for the acquisition of Tellurian and Driftwood LNG.

“The energy minister stated that the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago is open to collaborating on opportunities that can emerge from Trinidad and Tobago’s strategic location in proximity to Atlantic and Pacific routes for LNG,” the ministry’s statement reported.

Minister Young also took the opportunity to congratulate Woodside Energy on its latest LNG tanker, the ‘Woodside Scarlet Ibis’, which is named after the national bird of Trinidad and Tobago.  According to the minister, this demonstrates “the positive stakeholder relationship between the Government of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and Woodside Energy.”

Kellyanne Lochan brought Minister Young up-to-speed on operations at Woodside Energy coming out of the recent asset upgrade at Greater Angostura, as well as marketing and commercial surrounding the Calypso deep water project.

The ministry’s statement noted that both parties agreed to continue their collaborative relationship in the interest of navigating the global economic outlook.
