Enrique Márquez asks the TSJ to review the ruling on elections

Former presidential candidate Enrique Márquez requested this Wednesday from the Supreme Court of Justice the review of judgment number 31, issued by the Electoral Chamber, which certified the results of the July 28 elections.

Marquez argues that this decision presents constitutional defects and asks the Constitutional Chamber of the country’s highest court to analyze the arguments presented by his legal team.

In a statement to the press, the leader stressed the importance of the TSJ reviewing “the violation of popular sovereignty reflected in the vote and of due process.”

Considers that what happened in the Electoral Hall represents a “process of madness” and stressed the need to take into account the irregularities reported.

“We have asked that it be certified that these vices actually existed and that they be analyzed,” said Márquez, who recalled that the sentence has not been published nor delivered to the interested parties.

Márquez, former director of the National Electoral Council, said that the appeal does not only seek a political response, but also represents an option for the country.

The former candidate pointed out that The Constitutional Court is “the last institutional reserve” with the capacity to declare the nullity of the acts of other public powers.

He added that his request could Open doors for the rescue of democracy and the strengthening of the value of the vote in Venezuela.

“We intend for this document to be the banner of a civic movement, for peace, for coexistence, for the homeland, for the Constitution, which demands diligence, speed, and opportunity from the Constitutional Court. And that we can count on a much more certain path,” he declared.

The CNE “contributes to uncertainty”

Márquez accused the National Electoral Council, chaired by Chavista activist Elvis Amoroso, of contributing to the uncertainty and unrest of Venezuelans.

“We again ask that the results be published,” he stated.
