Felipe Mujica: Venezuela is immersed in political nonsense

  • Oct, Tue, 2024

Felipe Mujica, general secretary of the Movement towards Socialism, stated on Monday that Venezuela is immersed in a “political nonsense” due to the lack of publication of the disaggregated results of the presidential elections of July 28.

«We are immersed in a political nonsense, where We don’t know exactly what will happen on January 10, constitutional date for the inauguration. And this is due to the continuous measures taken by the government, which increase the difficulties of the population, as well as the uncertainty,” said Mujica.

Quoted in a press release, the leader said that the election results are a mystery for Venezuelans and the governments of many countries.

For this reason, he indicated, they signed the request of former presidential candidate Enrique Márquez, who asked the Constitutional Chamber of the Supreme Court of Justice to declare void the ruling that validates the supposed re-election of Nicolás Maduro.

«The intention of the document is achieve a rectification and negotiate possible alternatives that arise from there. “Institutions continue to be a space to reach agreements and prevent Venezuelans from taking the worst path by resorting to violence,” Mujica explained.

TSJ validated Maduro’s “victory”

On August 22, the Electoral Chamber of the TSJ, chaired by Chavista Caryslia Rodríguez, validated the results of the presidential elections, which gave the supposed victory to Maduro, questioned inside and outside the country.

The Democratic Unitary Platform maintains that its standard-bearer Edmundo González won the elections based on 83.5% of the electoral records collected by witnesses and polling station members on election day.

ANDThe CNE has not published the disaggregated results -as established in their schedule- that confirm Maduro’s “victory”, despite numerous requests from the opposition and a large part of the international community.
