The opposition party Primero Justicia This Wednesday he demanded the release of Rafael Ramírez Colina, mayor of Maracaibocapital of the state of Zulia, arrested along with three other local officials.

«In respect to the will of the people of Maracaibo who elected him and the recognized work he is doing for the city, We demand the immediate release of Rafael Ramírez Colina, the other detained officialsas well as the cessation of political persecution and respect for the human rights of every Venezuelan,” the political group expressed in a statement published in X.

He also stated that there is no justification for this fact “nor for Pedro Guanipa, Margarita Assenza and David Barroso continuing to be deprived of liberty.”

First Justice explained that Ramírez Colina was transferred to the local headquarters of the Bolivarian National Intelligence Service (Sebin) and that he does not know details about his condition, as well as the reasons for which he was arrested.

«Rafael Ramírez Colina has been an outstanding mayor, who after being elected on November 21, 2021, has only dedicated himself to building solutions, sowing hope and guaranteeing that each of the 18 parishes that make up Maracaibo receive the necessary assistance according to their needs. of values ​​and principles that define us as vigilantes. Their work is recognized by citizens. He recovered the spirit of an entire city and the pride of the Marabino peopleafter Maracaibo starred for so many years in the worst headlines of the national crisis. All his actions have been with street accompaniment, the search for solutions and transparency in public exercise,” he concluded.

Sources from the Maracaibo Mayor’s Office revealed to the EFE news agency that Ramírez Colina, Barroso and two members of the mayor’s security team were arrested on Tuesday in Villa Carmen, a house considered historical cultural heritage of Maracaibo that is under the administration of the Mayor’s Office.

The mayor, member of the opposition party Primero Justicia, supported the standard bearer of the main coalition Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), Edmundo González Urrutiain these elections.

Likewise, Ramírez Colina also joined the “legitimate citizen request” that the CNE “publish the results, table by table, center by center”, of the past elections, in order to “grant the confidence that the electoral process needs” , as stated on his Instagram account.
