The Primero Justicia party demanded this Tuesday that justice be done, upon completion six years since the death of councilor Fernando Albán while he was in prison. For this fact, two officials of the Bolivarian Intelligence Service were sentenced.

“We will not rest until achieve justice for his death and for that of all Venezuelans who have died, “They have been detained and tortured unjustly at the hands of the Maduro regime,” the political organization said in a publication on X.

He said that to Fernando Albán was cruelly tortured while he was detained and stated that this was reported to international organizations such as the United Nations.

“Fernando was a social fighter, dedicated to working within the most needy communities and with a fervent democratic spirit who only wanted what the vast majority longs for in Venezuela: the freedom of the country,” he added.

Fernando Albán fell from the tenth floor of Sebin

In December 2021, Attorney General Tarek William Saab reported the sentencing of two Sebin officials to 5 and 10 years in prison, respectively, for the Albán case.

Fernando Albán died on October 8, 2018 after falling from the tenth floor of the Sebin headquarters facilities in Plaza Venezuela, in Caracas. He was detained for allegedly being involved in an alleged drone attack against Nicolás Maduro.

Saab indicated that the officials were convicted of the crimes of manslaughter (negligence), in addition to breach of custody obligations, conspiracy and facilitating aggravated escape.

First, Justice considers the ruling insufficient.

In January 2019, former Venezuelan prosecutor Luisa Ortega Díaz went to the International Criminal Court to denounce Albán’s death, whose subsequent investigation led to the conviction of the two officials.

The councilor’s case is detailed in a report by the UN Independent International Mission.
