Five held for firearm and DUI offencesÂ

Five people have been arrested and one firearm and a quantity of ammunition seized during stop and search and DUI exercises.
The exercises were conducted over the weekend in the North Eastern and Port of Spain divisions. Â
In a statement today, the TTPS said in the first incident, officers of the Maracas Bay Police Station conducted a stop and search exercise between 7 pm and 10 pm, on Sunday 1st December 2024.Â
During the exercise, officers stopped a 26-year-old suspect of El Socorro at the Maracas Bay Fishing Village and conducted a search.Â
The search resulted in officers reportedly finding one Glock 26 pistol loaded with a magazine containing 12 rounds of ammunition in his possession. Â
Meanwhile, officers of the Port of Spain Division conducted a road and traffic enforcement operation between 11:30 pm on Saturday 30th November 2024 and 4:30 am, on Sunday 1st December 2024.Â
During the exercise, four people, ages 26 to 46, were arrested for being over the prescribed limit per 100ml of breath. Â
Investigations are ongoing into all the matters.
