Foreign Help For DSS Probe

Barbados is sending two senior and experienced members of its Royal Police Force to Trinidad and Tobago to assist with the ongoing investigations into the Drug Sou Sou (DSS) scheme.

Confirming this in a media release, Minister of National Security Stuart Young said concern about the national security implications of the recent seizure, and subsequent release of millions of dollars in cash, and associated matters surrounding the scheme prompted the decision to seek international expert assistance.

Minister Young said the two Barbados officers will arrive in Trinidad early next week.

Minister Young has also requested assistance from the National Crime Agency in Great Britain, the NCA, and is currently awaiting a response to his request.

The foreign investigators will join the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service on arrival in Trinidad.
