Whatever Trinidad and Tobago get on the road will be a bonus, but a successful 2024-2025 CONCACAF Nations League run will depend on T&T winning their home matches, beginning on September 10 against French Guiana at the Dwight Yorke Stadium, Tobago. T&T also host Cuba on October 10.
For the 2023-2024 Nations League, T&T, under then head coach Angus Eve, got all the way to the League A quarter-finals, where they went out 4-2 on aggregate to eventual champions United States, losing 3-0 away, before winning 2-1 in Port of Spain.
Eve’s assistant Derek King, has now taken over on an interim basis for the dismissed former coach, his first assignment coming away to Honduras, four days before the Soca Warriors’ first home match against French Guiana.
The Dwight Yorke stadium is no stranger to Nations League action, T&T and Nicaragua having played to a 1-1 draw there in a League B top-of the table clash on March 27, 2023 when Eve was still in charge.
T&T will be in Group B of League A which also includes Jamaica, besides Honduras, Cuba, Nicaragua, and French Guiana. while Group A contains Costa Rica, Guatemala, Martinique, Guadeloupe, Suriname, and Guyana.
In a Swiss format, T&T will open away to Honduras on September 6 and French Guiana in Tobago on September 10.
The Soca Warriors complete the group stage with a home and away series against Cuba in October — at home on October 10 and away on October 14.
The fourth edition of the CNL continues to feature the region’s 41 men’s national teams divided into three leagues (A, B, and C), with the teams distributed into the Leagues according to the results of the preceding edition (2023/24).
Matches for all three Leagues will be played across three upcoming men’s FIFA Match Windows (September, October, and November 2024), followed by the CONCACAF Nations League Finals (CNLF) in March of 2025.
