Funeral of Kaylee Poonan begins

Dark clouds add to the sombre atmosphere hanging over the Friendship Village community this morning as family and friends gathered to bid farewell to 17-year-old Kaylee Poonan who lost her life in a motor vehicle accident earlier this week.

Scores of people have made their way to the funeral service which is being held at the family’s home this morning to pay their respects and celebrate Kaylee’s life.

On Tuesday, Kaylee was a front-seat passenger in a car driven by her boyfriend, 19-year-old Navin Bedassie, when it skidded off the northbound lane of the Sir Solomon Hochoy Highway and crashed into a utility pole.

Kaylee suffered fatal injuries while Bedassie was taken to the San Fernando General Hospital for treatment.
