Gender Minister calls for compassion following deaths

Tobago East MP and Gender Minister Ayanna Webster-Roy said she is heartbroken following the discovery of Sarah Smith and her two young children in a tank at Parlatuvier.

In a release this morning she called on the Parlatuvier community and citizens across Tobago to step forward and offer help to those in need.

Webster-Roy spoke of the importance of supporting one another and seeking assistance when necessary.

She sent her condolences to the Smith family.
She said, “This heartbreaking loss has left us all deeply saddened,” she said. “As a community, we must unite to help each other in these difficult times.”

Webster-Roy asked residents to avoid speculation about the incident, asking for compassion and understanding instead.

“We must allow the investigation to run its course and encourage anyone with information to share it with the authorities.”

She also encouraged those in need or anyone facing danger or challenges should seek support via:

“As family members and neighbours, we must stay vigilant and look out for each other’s well-being,” Webster-Roy added. “I urge everyone to offer support and seek professional help whenever it is needed.”
