The opposition leader Edmundo González Urrutia, exiled in Spain, thanked this Wednesday the governments of Ecuador and Italy that They have recognized him as president-elect of Venezuela after the July 28 elections, compared to the controversial official result that gives Nicolás Maduro the winner but without showing the table-by-table minutes, as required by law.

The Ecuadorian government ratified this Thursday its recognition of the Venezuelan opposition leader by not accepting the results as valid and transparent presented by the National Electoral Council (CNE), which gave Maduro the winner for a new six-year mandate (2025-2031).

Italy and Ecuador join the United States, which recently recognized the opponent as president-elect for the first time in public.
