Kamala Harris: “We will not use the Armed Forces against Maduro”
The vice president and Democratic candidate for the United States elections, Kamala Harris, assured this Tuesday that they would not use the Pentagon Armed Forces in Venezuela and that His country will remain firm against the regime of Nicolás Maduro.
“We are not going to use the Armed Forces there,” Harris said in an interview with the Hispanic network Telemundo. However, he stressed that the United States will remain firm demanding that the will of Venezuelans expressed on July 28 be respected.
«The will of the people must be respected. That is why we have also issued sanctions,” he added.
Washington considers that the winner of the July elections was the opposition Edmundo González Urrutia, according to the minutes obtained by the majority opposition bloc, and has called for “the will” of the Venezuelan people to be respected so that there is a “transition back to democratic norms.”

Asked about Mexico, Harris said that she congratulated Claudia Sheinbaum when she won the elections last June and became, upon taking office in October, the first woman to become the President of that country: “I am looking forward to working with her in regarding the “issue of trafficking of weapons, drugs and human beings by cartels” in the border area.
The vice president highlighted her work with the Mexican Government over the years, when she was attorney general of California – a state bordering Mexico – and led, she said, “a bipartisan group of attorneys general from the United States to Mexico City to work with the Mexican attorneys general on the issue of trafficking in weapons, drugs and human beings by cartels.
“She and I have talked about that,” Harris said, “about the work we can do together on a number of issues, including, you know, that she is a scientist,” he added, “we also talked about collaboration between the United States and Mexico around investment in the future, technology and science.
