So, one of the hot topics currently is the change to our coat of arms. Here’s my two cents bit.
I thoroughly disagree with the proposal to remove Columbus’ three ships and replace them with the steelpan.
These ships represent an indelible part of our history. It reminds us of the fact that we all “came”, as well as hinting at the death and destruction wrought on the original inhabitants. On the other hand, the steelpan merely points to our more recent history. The ships tell us where it all began. Please don’t remove them.
