Lara, Edwards among early leaders in four-ball trials | Local Sports

THE TEAM of West Indies cricket legend Brian Lara and Courtney Edwards led the field in the Men’s 50 years and over category with a score of 71, when the trials to select the team to represent Trinidad and Tobago at the Caribbean Golf Association four-ball Championships got underway yesterday morning, at the St Andrews golf course at Moka, Maraval.

Stiff competition in this category will be coming from the teams consisting of Dominic Dwarika and Junior Charles, and the team of current Trinidad and Tobago Golf Association president Wayne Baptiste and T&T football legend Russell Latapy.

In the men’s 60 years and over division, Richard Rampersad and Shaker Beepan are at the top of the leaderboard with a score of 73.

In the men’s 70 years and over, Pran Rajendranath and Maurice Mathura lead the division with a score of 79.

The Ladies 25 and over competition saw Tori De Freitas and Victoria Seenath in the lead, also with 79, while Violet Roopchand and Ingrid Seeberan lead the Ladies Over-45 with 82.

The trials continue today, as players battle for spots to see who will represent T&T.

The CGA four-ball Championships will be played from the October 16- 21 at the Tobago Plantations Golf Course.
