Liberals react to Donald Trump U.S. election win – November 6, 2024
Prime Minister Justin Trudeau and ministers speak with reporters on Parliament Hill as the federal Liberal party holds its weekly caucus meeting. The prime minster, Chrystia Freeland (finance and deputy prime minister), Mélanie Joly (foreign affairs), Marc Miller (immigration), Mary Ng (trade), Mark Holland (health), François-Philippe Champagne (innovation), Soraya Martinez Ferrada (tourism), Jean-Yves Duclos (public services), Karina Gould (government House leader), Anita Anand (Treasury Board president, transport), Bill Blair (defence) and Sean Fraser (housing) face questions on the election of Donald Trump as the 47th president of the United States and the impact it may have on Canada-U.S. relations.
Blair also comments on calls for Canada to meet its NATO defence spending target of 2 per cent of GDP.
Anand responds as well to questions on government expenditures and on reports of a Russian plot to place incendiary devices on aircraft bound for the U.S. and Canada.
