Luis Carlos Díaz received an Albies for human rights in Venezuela
The Venezuelan communicator Luis Carlos Diaz He was awarded the prestigious Albies Award, given by the Clooney Foundation for Justice. This recognition highlights his work as journalist, cyberactivist and human rights defender in Venezuela.

Luis Carlos Díaz has used his digital platforms and his work with social organizations and the media to make visible the accountability efforts, including progress of the International Criminal Court investigation for crimes against humanity committed in Venezuela.
The Albies ceremony, held at the New York Public Library, brought together important figures from cinema and society to honor advocates of justice from around the world. Amal and George Clooney, co-founders of the Clooney Foundation for Justice, highlighted the importance of recognizing and protecting those who dedicate their lives to fighting for human rights.

Luis Carlos Díaz commented: «Yes, with The Pop Chair said that we could package complex content in a pop culture format, Seeing Amal and George Clooney have a gala to talk about human rights is simply admirable. It’s like sharing the focus and the platform to put hard topics on the agenda. John Stewart called it ‘the Oscars of bravery.’
During the event, prominent figures such as Nadia Murad, Nobel Peace Prize winner and Iraqi activist, were presented; Memory Banda, who fights against child marriages in Malawi; the Women of the Sun and the Women Who Fight for Peace, organizations from Palestine and Israel that work together, and Dolores Huerta, heroine of civil rights in the United States.
In addition, the gala was attended by artists such as John Oliver, John Krasinski, Emily Blunt, Meryl Streep, Cate Blanchett, John Stewart, as well as Melinda Gates and the former first lady of the United States Michelle Obama.
