He also stated that Venezuela is interested in working closely with the BRICS countries, led by China and Russia, in the energy sector.

Rodríguez, who added that “in the coming years, for the first time in history, Venezuela will be a gas exporting country,” said this week that Caracas and Moscow reviewed their “bilateral energy agenda,” the content of which he did not provide, since the announcements will be known in “the future” through President Nicolás Maduro.

On Thursday, the Minister of Petroleum pointed out that 26% of the crude oil extracted worldwide comes from countries subject to unilateral restrictions that contradict international law.

He highlighted that Venezuela is interested in selling oil in national currency, like Russia, in order to avoid the use of dollars, one of the tools used by the United States to apply sanctions.
