Watch our essential video guide on properly maintaining the fan filter on your Alienware Area-51.
In this video, we show you how to maintain the fan filter in your Alienware Area-51 AAT2250. Before you begin, ensure that your computer is turned off and all connected devices are unplugged. Now, locate the fan filters.
Your computer has three fan filters, one at the top, one at the bottom and the other at the front of the chassis. You will need a Phillips head screwdriver to complete this procedure. To begin for the top and bottom fan filter, loosen the captive screw and pull the filter out. Repeat this for the other filter.
To remove the front filter held in place by magnets, use the tab to simply pull the filter out of the front cover. Next, clean the fan filter with compressed air to remove the dust. Then, use a microfiber cloth to wipe away any remaining surface dust. For optimal thermal performance, it’s advised to clean the filters every quarter. You can configure the dust filter reminder in BIOS for reminders.
To insert the front filter, place it into the designated slot where it is held in place by magnets. Now, to replace the top and bottom fan filter, insert them into the corresponding slot, and tighten the captive screw to secure them in place. Repeat this for the other filter.
