Man, 69, killed by gas truck
A gas tanker driver struck and killed a 69-year-old man in Marabella this morning.
The victim, identified as Kent Mitchell, also known as “Yankee”, had no fixed address.
Police said around 9 am today (Saturday 17 August 2024), the truck driver had stopped on Union Road to let a vehicle exit Amarsingh Street.
Guardian Media understands that as Mitchell tried to cross the road, the truck moved off and ran him over.
The driver told police he did not see Mitchell. He died at the scene.
Marabella police are investigating.
