Man chopped during argument over food
An argument between relatives about food resulted in a 45-year-old man being hospitalised after he was chopped repeatedly.
Police were told that around 7:20pm on Friday the victim had an argument with a 43-year-old male relative at a home along Cedar Grove Road in Mayaro.
The argument was over food that was left in the fridge.
The confrontation soon became physical, and the younger man allegedly grabbed a cutlass and began chopping the 45-year-old to the head and chest.
He also threatened to kill the man.
Other relatives at the home responded, and the 43-year-old left the scene.
The police were notified and the injured man was taken for medical treatment.
Thankfully, his injuries were not said to be life threatening.
A team of officers from the Mayaro Police Station responded.
