Man killed while driving

A man identified as Kennis Pierre was killed this morning while driving through Port-of-Spain. The incident took place around 7.05 am in the vicinity of Richardson Lane and Fromager St, Laventille Road.

Residents ran for cover while motorists sped up as gunshots rang out whilst people were om their way to and children headed to school. Pierre was reportedly driving a white Nissan Tiida when he was blocked by and gunmen opened fire on him. It is alleged he lost control of the vehicle which crashed into a nearby wall.

The emergency health services were contacted although officers from the Duncan Street Police Post took Pierre to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital. He was pronounced dead on arrival. Several spent shell casings were recovered at the scene.
