Maria Corina Machado calls on Venezuelans in Spain to demonstrate this Tuesday
Venezuelan opposition leader Maria Corina Machado He called on all Venezuelans living in Spain to join a demonstration this Tuesday, September 10 at 6:00 pm in the Plaza de las Cortes in Madrid.
Through her X account, Machado urged the Venezuelan community to “claim the mandate of July 28” and to demonstrate their unity in the fight for democracy in Venezuela.
“This Tuesday, ALL UNITED! We are going to reclaim the mandate of July 28th!! We have overcome all obstacles to get here and we will continue to do so UNTIL THE END!”, the opposition member said in her message, emphasizing the importance of enforcing Popular Sovereignty and the truth.
Machado highlights that the union of Venezuelans abroad is crucial
The call comes in a significant context, as the opposition leader Edmundo Gonzalez Urrutia He took political asylum in Spain after being politically persecuted following the presidential elections of July 28, where his victory has been claimed. The demonstration seeks to bring together Venezuelans from all over to demonstrate their support for the democratic cause and demand respect for the results of these elections.
“We will continue to move forward until the entire world recognizes Edmundo Gozález Urrutia as president-elect, who will be sworn in as president of the republic on January 10, 2025,” said the opposition leader.
Machado, known for her firm stance against the government of Nicolás Maduro, stressed that the union of Venezuelans abroad is crucial to strengthen the fight for freedom and justice in the country.
“On Tuesday, September 10, the Spanish Congress of Deputies will also debate the proposal that calls on the Spanish government and the governments of the European Union to recognize Edmundo González as the elected president of Venezuela,” he concluded.
