The leader of the opposition, María Corina Machado, assured this Tuesday that her fight to remove Chavismo from power, which has governed since 1999, “has reached its final stage”, almost three months after the presidential elections. on July 28.

One year after her election as presidential candidate of the largest opposition bloc – the Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) -, she reiterated that Maduro was defeated at the polls by Edmundo González Urrutia, who competed on behalf of the anti-Chavista bloc due to the disqualification imposed on the former deputy.

«This regime is weaker than ever and we defeated it in the streets and in the fields throughout Venezuela, spiritually, politically and electorally. We have reached the definitive stage, leading them to give up the territory they occupy today with blood and fire and we will do that too,” he said in a video published on his X social network account.

He considered that, after Maduro’s controversial re-election, which is not recognized by many countries, the government “collapses”, so “there is no room for doubt or indifference”, because “whoever remains silent or lowers his head becomes “complicit in tyranny.”

«There is only one option, which is to fight until we win, which is to fight until we win and win the (electoral) victory, and we will do it for the truth, for the thousands of prisoners, for the kidnapped and tortured children, for those who are leaving. today of Venezuela and for those who want to return,” Machado continued.

She recalled that when she was elected candidate of the PUD, she assumed the mandate of “overcoming all obstacles to defeat Nicolás Maduro in the presidential elections”, a task that – she insisted – she more than completed, since the opposition assures that González Urrutia doubled the votes of the Chavista leader.

“I reiterate my unwavering commitment, let us be sure that these sacrifices make us more human, more resilient for the Venezuela that we are already building,” he added..
