Machado: “His departure is getting closer every day”
«They know it. They know that their exit is getting closer every day and that it is impossible to stop this people when they rise. “They know very well that this town is rising now,” he said.
Machado pointed out that the government “not even with its own abusive, corrupt, dirty rules” was able to “prevent his monumental defeat” in the presidential electionswhose official result was rejected in massive demonstrations that left, according to the Executive, more than 2,400 detainees, whom the Prosecutor’s Office accuses of causing “violence” and “vandalism.”
The Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD) accuses Maduro of “repressing” the opposition sector through the State security forces, while NGOs report that people were detained despite not participating in the protests.
Although Maduro’s re-election has been criticized by the international community, mainly due to the lack of support that confirms his victory at the pollsall the country’s institutions – including the Armed Forces – support the Chavista leader and see the PUD as coup plotters who intend to take power by force.
