Massive joint operation underway to rescue kidnapped boy,12
A massive rescue operation is currently underway in the hills of Dibe, Long Circular, as police and soldiers search for a 12-year-old boy, who reportedly was kidnapped by a close male relative this morning.
The 33-year-old suspect allegedly took the boy with him as he fled after stabbing his wife. She remains hospitalised. Her condition is unknown.
Guardian Media understands the incident occurred around 5:30 am today, during which the suspect and the woman are believed to have been involved in an argument that escalated into physical violence.
During a press briefing at the Police Administration Building in Port-of-Spain, Assistant Commissioner of Police Curt Simon assured that law enforcement officials were utilising all available measures to locate the two.
ACP Simon revealed that drones, along with the K-9 Unit, had been deployed in the forested area, while soldiers and personnel from various branches of the Trinidad and Tobago Police Service were combing the hills on foot.
This is a developing story and will be updated as details come to hand.
