Matelot man shot and killed close to home

A father of two from Matelot died after he was confronted by an armed man a few minutes after leaving his home at Santa Cruz Road, Matelot.

The victim has been identified as 41-year-old Quacey Francois.

Police reported around 6:25 pm on Thursday, Francois left home to go to a nearby shop.

Shortly after, loud explosions were heard. His family said they feared that it was Francois who had just left home.

Their fears were realised when they found Francois lying motionless with gunshot wounds.

Investigations are continuing.
