Miami Broward Carnival continues as scheduled following Hurricane Milton

The passage of Hurricane Milton in Florida will not impact the hosting of this year’s “Miami Carnival”, as the State remains set to inject an influx of Caribbean culture into the South Florida region this coming weekend.  

A release from the Miami Broward One Carnival Host Committee on Monday attempted to reassure the Caribbean/Carnival community, potential patrons and supporters that the South Florida region, while experiencing some rain and strong winds, was not expected to take a direct hit from the storm.
The Host Committee insisted that “the safety of the community” was their main priority and assured all concerned that they would “check daily to get the most up-to-date information on the South Florida region” and would “actively monitor all weather updates” and provide timely information should any operational changes become necessary.
“Our primary concern is the safety and well-being of our attendees, performers, and the community,” stated the release led by Public Relations Director, Yvette N. Harris. 

“It has come to our attention that false reports circulating on social media claim that Miami Carnival 2024 has been cancelled. We want to emphasize that this information is not true. We encourage you to rely on our official social media channels and website for accurate updates and information regarding all Miami Carnival activities.”
This year marks the 40th anniversary of Caribbean Carnival festivities in the state of Florida which exists as the largest Carnival celebration in North America. 

The Miami Broward One Carnival features several weeks of events culminating with Panorama this Friday night, J’ouvert on Saturday morning (both held at the Central Broward Regional Park in Lauderhill) and the grand parade and concert on Sunday, October 13 to be held at the Miami-Dade County Fairgrounds in Miami, Florida. 

Host Committee General Counsel and attorney-at-law, Marlon Hill continues to deliver daily updates on his Instagram page and also spoke with South Florida Band Leaders Association Chairman, Nigel Alfred on Tuesday night with both representatives extending prayers and best wishes for those residing in North Florida and assuring Carnival lovers that the forecast appears positive for Miami Carnival’s 40th-anniversary celebrations this coming weekend.
