Migrant Registration Ends – Minister Young Hails Successful Process
The doors of the Registration Centres for Venezuelan migrants have been closed.
At a Media Conference on Friday evening, the Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, said the number of migrants processed has now crossed the 15,000 mark.
Minister Young said he has signed an Order that says that Venezuelans will now require Visas to enter Trinidad and Tobago. This takes effect from Monday.
He added that the Migrant Registration Process has been a success, and that there were no crowds outside the Registration Centres.
Minister Young said despite reports that Trinidad and Tobago’s borders are not secure, the T&T Coast Guard had been turning away vessels at the coastlines.
