Minister Hinds On Crime

The Minister of National Security, Fitzgerald Hinds, took a philosophical view of the job of national security forces in Trinidad and Tobago.

He says it is a complex job because security personnel are dealing with the complex nature of men and women who engage in crime. He says pride and envy are at the root of many evil events we face today. Dealing with crime, he says, goes back to changing the very nature of human beings.

The Minister also says that the way to deal with crime is through the social contract that we all have with other humans as expressed in the Constitution. He says as well that socialisation is important, teaching young people to get on the right path.
