A 14-year-old girl is now in the care of the Children’s Authority after police found her during an operation in Port of Spain on Monday.

Relatives reported Selisha Camejo of Hell Yard Beetham Gardens missing on November 15.

Police say she was found during what they call an intelligence-driven and community-oriented policing operation in Beetham Gardens and Sea Lots.

The exercise focused on seeking readily social intervention for young women and girls who are victims of community and domestic decay.

Camejo was handed over to the Children’s Authority caseworkers who had a recovery order issued by the High Court of Justice, Family and Children’s Division.

They will initiate the other necessary intervention procedures.
Members of the Besson Street Police Station, Hearts and Minds (IATF), the Children’s Authority, the Special Victims Department, and residents of the Beetham Gardens collaborated on the operation.

Superintendent Michelle Rowley-Powder and other members of the Special Victims Department coordinated the exercise, which commemorates the 16 days of activism against gender-based violence.
