More water for Tobago: Works on Goldsborough WTP to begin soon

The Ministry of Public Utilities (MPU) has confirmed that it’s mobilising to commence work on the new Goldsborough Water Treatment Plant in Tobago.

In a statement, the MPU said the project falls under the purview of the National Water Sector Transformation Programme in collaboration with the Water and Sewerage Authority (WASA) as the executing agency.

The MPU noted that the project is expected to be completed in 18 months and wil result in an improved water supply to communities such as Mount St George, Goodwood, Pembroke, Glamorgan, Hope and environs.

Works on the project will include:

  • Grading of the site to prepare for construction works
  • Removal of solid waste and installation of equipment
  • Installation of mechanical, electrical and control components and pumps
  • Civil works including the erection of structures, paving, installation of fencing and gates
  • Marking of the road/ carriageways
  • Excavation of raod/trench and installation of pipeline.

As such, the ministry is inviting the public to attend a stakeholder meeting to hear details about the project, the possible impact and mitigation measures and meet the contractors and community liaisons.

The meeting is scheduled for tomorrow, Friday, at 6pm at the Pembroke Community Centre.
