Mother with mental disorder murdered her newborn daughter

An infanticide was recorded on October 7 in the Manuel Carlos Piar peasant settlement, via El Rosario, in the Yocoima parish of the Caroní municipality, Bolívar state.

The victim was a girl, one month and 20 days old, who was murdered by her mother Ruth Higuera, 22 years old.

According to the official report, the incident occurred around 8:30 am. The family assured that the parent presents a pathological picture of mental disorder and that he was receiving help from a government organization.

According to official information, the mother underwent a psychiatric study at the facilities of the National Service of Forensic Medicine and Science, located in Upata. The diagnosis was mood disorder, borderline personality disorder, and nonspecific psychotic disorder.

However, It was determined that she was not a candidate for serious disorders, so she was learned.

In the autopsy performed on the newborn, it was determined that she died from mechanical asphyxiation due to immersion, otitis externa, lower respiratory failure and anemic syndrome.

It turned out that The psychological condition of the perpetrator resulted in the fact that during her pregnancy she was abandoned by her daughter’s father.to start a relationship with another woman.

Her family sought psychiatric help with a foundation through the Government of Bolívar state; Higuera even received medication during pregnancy, a treatment that was suspended 10 days before giving birth.

After the cesarean section, they did not notice any irregular behavior that would reveal signs of violence or depression, so they stopped taking the medications.
