KINGSTON, Jamaica – The 2024 Concacaf Caribbean Cup is set to begin this Tuesday, bringing together the top ten clubs from the region in a thrilling competition that will culminate in early December.

This year’s tournament kicks off with four exciting matches in the opening week. The first clash will see Jamaican powerhouses Mount Pleasant FA and Cavalier FC face off, while two more enticing matchups are slated for Thursday to wrap up Week 1.

Mount Pleasant FA will host Cavalier FC on Tuesday at Sabina Park, Kingston, Jamaica. This highly anticipated encounter marks the first meeting between the two clubs in the Caribbean Cup.

Mount Pleasant FA, hailing from the Parish of St. Ann, is making its debut on the Concacaf international stage, having earned its spot by finishing as the runners-up in the 2023–24 Jamaica Premier League.

Cavalier FC, the reigning Jamaica Premier League champions, is returning for its third appearance in the Caribbean Cup. The Kingston-based club was the runner-up in last year’s edition, having gotten the better of Harbour View FC 5-0 on aggregate in the semifinals.

This match also serves as a rematch of the 2023/24 Jamaican Premier League Final, where Cavalier emerged victorious 4-3 in a penalty shootout after a 1-1 draw in regular time, with goals from Devonte Campbell and Richard King.

On Wednesday, Dominican rivals Cibao FC and Moca FC will battle at Estadio Cibao in Santiago de los Caballeros. This matchup marks the first time these two clubs will meet in the Caribbean Cup.

Cibao FC, the Dominican Republic’s most experienced club in this tournament, boasts 16 matches in Caribbean Cup history, with seven wins, seven draws, and two losses.

Moca FC, on the other hand, will face a fellow Dominican club in this tournament for the first time.

On Thursday, Haitian side Ouanaminthe FC will square off against AC Port of Spain from Trinidad and Tobago at Estadio Moca 85 in Moca, Dominican Republic.

Ouanaminthe FC is set to make its Concacaf club tournament debut, having qualified by winning Group B of the 2023/24 Haitian League.

AC Port of Spain, making its second consecutive Caribbean Cup appearance, earned its spot by clinching the 2023/24 Trinidad and Tobago Premier League title. The Trinidadian club participated in four matches during the 2023 edition of the tournament.

In the meantime, Real Hope FA from Haiti will face Miscellaneous Police FC from Trinidad and Tobago on Thursday at Sabina Park in Kingston.

Real Hope FA, entering the tournament for the third time, is aiming to advance beyond the group stage for the first time.

Debutants Miscellaneous Police FC becomes the ninth Trinidadian club to compete in the Caribbean Cup. The team secured its place as the runner-up in the 2023/24 Trinidad and Tobago Premier League.
