Venezuela will request the arrest of the Argentine judge who authorized the seizure of a Emtrasur cargo plane in Buenos Aires and 10 other peopleThe Attorney General, Tarek William Saab, reported this Monday, who had already requested the capture of President Javier Milei for the same reason.

“We are going to expand the arrest warrants for the theft of the Emtrasur plane,” the prosecutor announced to the press, in the midst of the escalation between both countries, and in which the Argentine justice system ordered the arrest of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro in a case for crimes against humanity.

Saab specified that The Venezuelan Public Ministry will issue 11 additional international arrest warrants for the Emtrasur casewhich include Argentine federal judge Federico Villena, responsible for authorizing the seizure at the Ezeiza airport at the request of the United States justice system, and prosecutor Cecilia Incardona, who endorsed that request.

Also on the list are the Argentine deputy Gerardo Milman, Carlos Vallefin, Roberto Arias, Yamil Santoro, María Eugenia Talerico, Leonardo Cámiser, Diego Iglesias and Franco Rinaldi.

«We are going to base the request for arrest warrants on (the crimes of): aggravated robbery, they are vulgar thieves clothed with a false entity and authority to commit these crimes; money laundering, illegitimate deprivation of liberty, simulation of a punishable act, illicit interference, deactivation of aircraft and association to commit a crime,” said Saab.

Argentina rejects arrest warrants for Emtrasur case

On September 18, one day after an NGO and federal prosecutors requested the Argentine justice system to arrest Nicolás Maduro, the Venezuelan Public Ministry announced the processing of arrest warrants against Milei, his Minister of Security Patricia Bullrich, and his sister. and general secretary of the presidency, Karina Milei.

“Argentina repudiates the arrest warrants (…) following the incident with the Emtrasur company plane”the Argentine Foreign Ministry then responded. “The aforementioned case was resolved by the Judiciary, an independent power over which the Executive cannot and should not have interference,” he added.

The aircraft, held in Buenos Aires since June 2022 by a court order during the government of leftist Alberto Fernández, was sold to Venezuela by the sanctioned Iranian airline Mahan Air.

It arrived from Mexico with a shipment of automotive parts and its crew members—14 Venezuelans and five Iranians—were detained and later released.

The seizure of the plane by the United States took place in February by order of Judge Villena during the Milei administration.

Venezuela and Argentina broke relations. Maduro and Milei frequently exchange insults.
