National Security Minister Says T&T Prepared For Any Terror Threat

Minister of National Security, Stuart Young, says Trinidad and Tobago is ready and prepared for any terror threat.

On Friday, Chief Military Liaison Officer at the US Embassy in Port of Spain, Colonel Claudia Carrizales, warned the business community to prepare for the return of T&T-born terrorists who are currently detained in Syria and Iraq.

At the MILAT Graduation Ceremony on Saturday, Minister Young said Trinidad and Tobago has policies and procedures in place and is working very hard at counter terrorism programmes.

Minister Young said the terror threat is real as he recalled that a plot to disrupt Carnival in 2018 was thwarted by T&T’s armed forces.

Only last week the Concerned Muslims of T&T (CMTT) wrote to the Government seeking assistance to bring “home” from Syria 25 children and adults, who are relatives of Islamic State fighters.
