Off duty cop, 2 civilians shot in Tobago melee
Tobago police are investigating a shooting incident involving an off-duty officer and two men.
According to reports, the incident occurred when Sergeant Collin Stewart attempted to arrest a man in Goodwood yesterday.
During the arrest, a struggle ensued and the officer to fall to the ground. Police said the man allegedly shouted, “Somebody go dead here today,” and grabbed the officer’s firearm, leading to Stewart being shot in the arm.
As the struggle continued, the suspect was shot when he tried to take the firearm a second time. The suspect’s friend was also shot in the shoulder when he tried to intervene.
All three men were treated at Scarborough Hospital. – Elizabeth Gonzales
