The Democratic Unitary Platform (PUD), the University of Zulia and various national leaders have expressed their concern about the arrest of university professor and deputy of the Legislative Council of the state of Zulia Eduardo Labrador.

Through social network X, the PUD reported the disappearance of Eduardo Labrador after his arrest by members of the Bolivarian National Police (PNB). The reason for his arrest is unknown at this time.

“We demand that his whereabouts be known and that he be granted his freedom immediately, as well as the cessation of the persecution against Venezuelans who work for change in the country. Doing politics is not a crime”, demanded the opposition organization.

For its part, the University of Zulia, where Labrador is a professor and researcher, issued a statement in which he expressed his concern and solidarity with the family members. He demanded information about the situation and that due judicial process be respected in the case.

It turned out that Labrador was on his way to the border with Colombia to visit his daughter in the city of Cartagena.

Zulia Humana pointed out that this detention is arbitrary because it violates the human rights and parliamentary immunity of Eduardo Labrador, enshrined in the Constitution of Venezuela. “We demand his immediate release.”reads the statement.

The political movement asked the OAS Inter-American Commission on Human Rights and the UN Fact-Finding Commission to register the arrest and demand due process and freedom for the university professor.

In turn, the political leader Andrés Caleca said: “(Eduardo Labrador) was kidnapped yesterday in the city of Maracaibo. They have violated his parliamentary immunity and today he is missing. This is what dictatorships are like. We demand his immediate release.”
