Pérez Vivas denounces measures against released political prisoners

César Pérez Vivasopposition political leader, denounced this Sunday that the administration of Nicolás Maduro imposes a policy of “silence and terror” on political prisoners released from prison between Saturday and Sunday.

He added: «Many are forced to record videos so they can say ‘how well they have been treated’. They believe that in this way our society will buy the story that human rights are respected here. “The script applied against citizens is totally violative of article 49 of the Constitution.”

The leader pointed out that in Venezuela there is no due process, but rather “torture, isolation, incommunication, denial of the right to defense and ignorance of the presumption of innocence.”

The NGO Foro Penal, which leads the defense of political prisoners in Venezuela, reported this Sunday that has registered and verified the release of 131 people linked to the protests against the official result of the presidential elections of July 28.

Attorney General Tarek William Saab, for his part, assured on Saturday that between Friday afternoon and yesterday they granted and executed 225 freedom measures for people detained after the post-election protests.
