Police arrest man with gun after dropping bike and running from them
Officers seized two firearms and arrested one man during anti-crime operations in Cumuto and Carenage this weekend.
In Carenage, officers responded to reports of loud explosions on Francois Street on Friday. They found a rifle with a magazine holding 10 rounds of ammunition in a track.
On Saturday officers carried out an operation in the Cumuto district around 9 am. They went to Tumpuna Road, where they saw a man on a bicycle. The man dropped the bike and ran when he saw the officers. Officers later found him hiding in the bushes with a Glock pistol and 13 rounds of ammunition.
The 31-year-old suspect from Cumuto was arrested.
Investigations continue.
