A 26-year-old woman from Samuel Cooper Trace, Fifth Company, was scammed out of $7,000 while attempting to purchase a vehicle through Facebook Marketplace.

The victim reported that on August 13, she found an advertisement for a Silver Y12 Wingroad Wagon and contacted the seller via WhatsApp.

A woman identifying herself as “Anastacia” agreed to sell the vehicle for a down-payment of $5,000 and monthly instalments of $2,000.

The victim told police she met a man on August 15 at South Park Mall, where she handed over $7,000 in cash and received a receipt. However, when she arranged to collect the vehicle in Caroni the next day, the seller never showed up.

Despite multiple attempts to contact “Anastacia,” the victim has not received the vehicle or a refund.

Investigations are ongoing.
