Police shoot at fleeing bandit
A 34-year-old man from Globe Lane, San Juan, was arrested by police shortly after he allegedly shot at them, as they pursued him in connection with a robbery in the early hours of Monday.
The suspect was later detained after his blue Nissan Y10 was intercepted along the Southern Main Road, Enterprise, near the Gravity Sports Bar.
Officers on mobile patrol in the Enterprise area received a wireless transmission of a break-in at Long’s Supermarket, Longdenville Old Road, at 2 am on Monday.
As officers of the Central Division Task Force Area North arrived, they observed the suspect’s car fleeing the scene and pursued it. It was alleged that during the chase, the driver put his right hand out the window and fired several times at lawmen, prompting them to return fire as per the TTPS Use of Force Policy.
After intercepting the suspect’s car, a search was carried out, and nine LPG gas tanks were found. However, no firearm was found.
Officers later searched along Citrus Drive, Southern Main Road, Enterprise, but nothing was found.
