A prison officer who was shot at a shooting range in Chaguaramas on Friday, died while receiving medical attention.
According to police reports, around 2 p.m. Kerry Sherwood, a member of the Trinidad and Tobago Prison Service, was at a popular range located at Mount Saint Catherine Road, Chaguaramas.
Instructors at the facility observed Sherwood with a gunshot wound to his right-side temple, and was bleeding from his head and both ears.
Sherwood was taken to the St. James Medical Complex for medical treatment where he succumbed to his injuries.
Law enforcement officials suspect his death may have been accidental.
They (officials) said it was both sad and unfortunate that such an incident happened.
