A 43-year-old TT Ride Share driver is receiving treatment for a gunshot wound he sustained when his car came under fire during a trip early on Sunday morning.

Police said the driver was heading south on Dundonald Hill, St James, at 12:40 am with a passenger in the front seat when they noticed a man standing at the side of the road.

The stranger pulled out a gun and shot at the driver, hitting him in his left leg.

The driver drove directly to the St James Police Station, where officers treated him.

Officers of the St James CID visited the scene and found nine spent shells and a bullet fragment.

It’s unclear if the driver or the passenger was the intended target.

Investigators have not established a motive for the shooting
