  • Aug, Fri, 2024

Collin Sargeant banged in a beaver-trick to fire Eagles FC to a lopsided 8-1 spanking of FC Goodwood for a fourth straight win from as many matches in the Eastern Conference of the Tobago Football Association’s (TFA) on Wednesday night.

Sargeant, who scored five goals in a 10-0 mauling of Bertille St Clair’s Soccer Academy (BSSA) earlier in the season, got his goals in the third minute, 14th, 27th and 43rd to carry his season-tally to a league-leading 11 goals, four more than Jokiah Leacock of Stokely Vale, while Ammari Alleyne added a double in the sixth, and 34th and Moses Bernard (11th), and Richard Cardenas (63rd) one each to cancel out Kelsey Alleyne’s fourth-minute own goal which briefly tied up the score at 1-1.

With the win, Eagles improved to a maximum of 12 points at the top of the ten-club standings, five points ahead of Sidey’s FC and Roxborough Lakers who both have a match in hand while Goal City is next with a maximum of six points from two matches.

Also in the Eastern Conference, Trivell Williams netted a 91st-minute winner for Calder Hall to edge Golden Lane 3-2.

Golden Lane led 2-0 at the half courtesy goals from Antonio Balfour in the 39th, and Jerime Quashie in the 41st.

However, on the resumption, Kelsey Pollard started Calder Hall’s revival in the 50th followed by the equaliser from Kareem Peters in the 78th, before Williams’ last-minute winner.
