A sergeant of the Bolivarian National Armed Forces died in a accident with fireworks at the Fuerte Tiuna military complex, in Caracas, in the preparation of the beginning of Christmas ordered by Nicolás Maduro.

The information, published by journalist Sebastiana Barráez, indicates that the victim’s name was José Gilber Vizcaya Laya and belonged to the Directorate of Chemicals, Explosives and Atomic Energy of the Directorate of Weapons and Explosives.

“The horrible accident did not prevent the officers of the military institution from celebrating, laughing, hugging as if nothing had happened,” says Barráez in the note, published in Infobae.

The deceased lived in the El Manguito sector of the Achaguas municipality, in the state of Aragua.

The journalist details that the body was kept vigil with the urn sealed because the fireworks “destroyed his head.” It indicates that on the coffin they placed a cap from the Directorate of Weapons and Explosives and a Venezuelan flag.

He also highlighted that this case was not mentioned by senior Venezuelan officials, including Vladimir Padrino López, Minister of Defense, and Domingo Hernández Lárez, operational strategic commander of the FANB. It stands out that only Manuel Alejandro Cova Cardona, head of the Military Public Defense, did it.

«The Armed Forces are not investigating what happened with the young DAEX sergeant, much less does he plan to give an explanation, when he did not even postpone the celebration and, even with the bloody remains, they continued the celebration,” said Barráez.
