Students and teachers demanded the freedom of the ucevistas

A few days after three months of the last presidential elections of July 28, students, teachers and family members demanded this Wednesday, October 16, the freedom of the students and the Ucevista professor detained since the protests that took place throughout the country after that the National Electoral Council announced as winner to Nicolás Maduro.

Under the slogan of “Who are we? Students, what do we want? Freedom” and with banners about human rights violations, several students, friends and relatives of these political prisoners gathered at the Faculty of Humanities of the Central University of Venezuela to raise their voices and demand the release of these seven people who are part of This house of studies also demanded the freedom of all people who are unjustly detained.

Who are the detained ucevistas?

Since the capture of the students and the professor of “the house that conquers the shadows” became known, several complaints and protests have occurred at the UCV to demand the prompt freedom of these seven people who have been deprived of liberty for more than a month. unfairly, according to the statements of Jesús Mendoza, president of the Federation of University Centers of the Central University of Venezuelawho also monitors the detained ucevistas. They are the following:

Kevin Rincón, student at the Faculty of Dentistry; Rafael Sivira, student at the Faculty of Legal and Political Sciences; Armando Solís, from the Faculty of Humanities and Education; Santiago Ortega, from the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences; Anthony Granadillo, from the Faculty of Architecture; María Valentina Méndez, UCV athlete and Salvador Rivera, professor at the School of Psychology.

In addition to the seven Ucevistas, there are 1,916 political prisoners as of October 7, according to the NGO Foro Penal, of which 70 are minors.
