Juan Carlos Palencia, deputy of the National Assembly, assured that he has received complaints about the increase in the number of checkpoints of the different security agencies on the way to the border, specifically between the section from the Capacho Viejo municipality to San Antonio del Táchira.

The parliamentarian specified that the mobile checkpoints have been installed in the El Descanso, El Paso Andino sectors, in the Páramo de Los Cacaos and others that drivers always encounter on the border highway, “We will replace the national government’s checkpoints and officials with workers who will repair the 37 edge faults found in the area and the two landslides.” such as Páramo Los Cacaos and Capacho Viejo, where nothing is being done, we do not see workers, we do not see the presence of engineers,” he said.

Palencia added that they must increase the presence of engineers and workers to repair the roads and reduce the presence of police officials and the different security forces that would be dedicated to “to rattle the people who bring their merchandise and medicines.”

He made a clear and forceful call to the national and regional authorities to control this situation, because he is constantly receiving complaints about the presence of uniformed officers who sometimes ask for bribes from people who travel from the city of Cúcuta to Venezuelan territory.

“We are going to clean up the public administration and our security agencies, we are not generalizing, but we must remove the intelligence officials and the military and police officials who are corrupt because the people’s pockets are hit and we cannot allow them to continue being hit with this type of extortion,” he said.

Likewise, he drew attention to the situation that the children of the communities that are located between the towns of Capacho and San Antonio del Táchira are experiencing, who after the start of the school year do not have a way to get to their schools, since There is no public transportation in the area. for the repairs that have been being done on the road for months.

He assured that there are more than 600 children who must travel to their classrooms on foot and at the mercy of the weather conditions, that is, they must take long walks in the rain or under the harsh sun.
