The battle over bike lanes at City Council | CTV News Toronto at Noon for Nov. 13, 2024

Bike lanes are also on the agenda. In October, the Ford Government introduced legislation that would force cities to get the province’s approval to install new bike lanes that remove a lane of traffic.

The province also wants to remove sections of the bike lanes on Bloor, Yonge, and University. Mayor Olivia Chow is fighting back, worried about the precedent the bill would set if passed. She will present the city’s options at today’s meeting.

Council will also consider a motion which directs the City Manager to write to Premier Ford protesting overreach in the bill.
