The Zulia Humana party reported that police officers detained the deputy of the Legislative Council of the State of Zulia (CLEZ) Eduardo Labrador on the morning of this Friday, October 18.

The political organization detailed, in a statement, that Labrador was detained in a checkpoint by officials of the Bolivarian National Police and that until now the reason for which he was arrested is unknown.

Labrador, who is a professor and active researcher at the Faculty of Economic and Social Sciences of the University of Zulia, was on his way to the border with Colombia to visit his daughter in the city of Cartagena.

«So far the police authorities have not responded to the request for information from his relatives, rectorate of LIGHT and CLEZ«, indicated the party authorities.

Zulia Humana pointed out that this detention is “arbitrariness” because it “violates” the human rights and parliamentary immunity of Eduardo Labrador, enshrined in the Venezuelan Constitution. “We demand his immediate release,” says the statement.

The political movement requested the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights of the OAS and the Fact-Finding Commission of the UN record the arrest and demand due process and freedom for the university professor.
