The event occurred around 4:30 am in the midst of intense rain, accompanied by thunder and lightning, that hit the municipality of the Eastern Coast of Lake Maracaibo.

Firefighters teams from PDVSA and the Cabimas municipality went to the scene and worked throughout the morning to control the fire. content before it spread beyond the boundaries of the facility.

But the intense rains in the area complicated the extinguishing efforts, since this type of incident requires the use of a special foam for proper extinction.

The commander of the Cabimas Fire Department, General Mufid Houmeidan, called on the inhabitants of the municipality to remain calm and expressed that The evacuation of the city was not necessary.

“This is confined here and we are only waiting for the foam to be able to inject into the tank,” indicated a video report from Mufid published at 7:30 am.

He stated that the storage tank that was on fire is 75,000 barrels, so the work to contain the fire is complicated.

“Be calm, the Cabimas Firefighters and the PDVSA Firefighters are here and we are going to put out this fire,” he said.

Nor injuries have been reported, and authorities continue to monitor the situation closely.
